6-10-09 Stealth vs. Berthoud in Berthoud-------The Stealth played one of their best games of the year beating the Spartans 9-7. We had the lead 9-1 until the bottom of the sixth inning where they scored 6 runs. Reece pitched a very good game going 5 1/3 innings, and Braden came in and closed the game out. We ended the league season vs. Berthoud 1-2. We lost 2 close matches with them 10-5, and 10-8. This win makes the Stealth 2-0 this week with another league game vs. the Tigers tomorrow. We stringed together multiple hits this game, and capitalized on bringing base runners in at crucial moments.
6-9-09 Longmont Stealth vs. Longmont Force------- The Stealth played a close game with the Force after beating them soundly in the previous 2 games against them. The Stealth prevailed and won the game 11-9. The first inning saw us score 5 runs and the Force score 6 runs. Jack is still trying to rebound with his pitching from a 5 week layoff from recovering from a broken finger. The timing, accuracy, and velocity will come back with more practice and more outings. The force had 4 hits and 4 base on balls, and 1 strike out off of Jack in two innings. Braden came in and pitched 3 strong innings allowing only 1 run on 5 strikeouts, 2 walks, and 1 hit. We stayed focused and scored six runs in the third and fourth innings. We ended our League record versus the Force 3-0.

6-6-09 & 6-7-09 Greeley AA Showdown------- The Stealth headed Northeast to Greeley for the AA Showdown. Overall record for the tournament was not very good with the Stealth losing 3 close games by total of 5 runs. We played our familiar competitor in the Eastern Colorado Cobras. It was a hard fought battle to the end, and they came on top 8-7, scoring the winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning. We played pretty good, had plenty of runners on in scoring position, but could not get that key hit to score more runs. We played good in the field, made 2 crucial mental mistakes in the field, and gave up too many unearned runs. We still kept ourselves in the game and had a chance to win, but it just didn’t happen
The second game had us playing a foe we never faced in the Eaton Reds. It was a close battle in the first three innings, and then we gave up 4 runs in the fifth. We scored 5 runs in the 5th and ended up losing 12-10, another heartbreaker. We waited too long to come back, and we did not capitalize in the third and fourth inning. We had six hits 9 strikeouts, and 4 walks vs. Eaton’s pitching. We had plenty of base runners and once again did not get that key hit to score the runs. We will see this team in upcoming tournaments over the next few weeks.
The third game had us playing a team we never faced before in the Colorado Springs Legends. This was a game we wish we had back because if we would have won, we would have faced Eaton again to go to the Championship game. This is definitely a game we should have won. We lost 11-9 and did not capitalize on their average pitching. We had six hits, 9 walks, and two hit batters. We had plenty of base runners and could not get them home. Our pitchers struggled with balls and strikes and walked 9 Colorado Springs players. They only had 3 hits against our pitchers, but the walks killed us. We had 2 errors that really hurt us allowing them to score some unearned runs. We will play these guys again, and this time we will take them.

6-3-09 Longmont Stealth vs. Berthoud Spartans------- We battled Berthoud pretty good for all six innings. We lost a close battle 10-8 on their home field. The boys showed life of coming back from a six run deficit, but feel short in the end. We came unglued in the third inning giving up six runs on 3 hits. We had one hit batter, 3 errors, and our pitchers struck out 3 hitters. We opened up the fifth inning by scoring 4 runs. We had 5 hits, and many stolen bases. We shut them out in the fourth and fifth inning, but we failed to score in the final inning. They pitched their best pitcher all six innings, and we could not get the advantage in last inning. Berthoud has proven to be a solid opponent winning another close one a few weeks ago versus the Stealth. We have a tournament coming up in Greeley this weekend. We open up with the Colorado Cobras in the morning, and then take on the Eaton Reds in the afternoon. We are into the heart of our tournament season now in June, and we hope to start playing better ball on a consistent basis.
